Newcastle United, West Ham & co ‘enquire’ about Italian international

Newcastle United are one of a number of Premier League teams that have reportedly submitted an enquiry over Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. According to the Athletic, Liverpool, West Ham and Brighton are also interested in a deal for the defender.

Calafiori is currently in Germany with the Italian national team and was a regular for his club last season. However, Thiago Motta’s move from Bologna to Juventus means it is the Old Lady who are viewed as favourites to sign the 22-year-old who made 38 appearances in all competitions under Motta last season.

Raphinha ‘rejects’ Newcastle United move

Barcelona winger Raphinha has no interest in joining Newcastle United this summer - according to reports. The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from the La Liga giants this summer as they look for ways to raise money and fund incoming transfers.

Newcastle United were heavily-linked with a move for him before he joined Barcelona back in 2022 after they agreed a £50m fee with Leeds United for his signature. Chelsea were also tipped as potential candidates for his signature at that time.

However, just 20 goals in two seasons at Camp Nou has been a disappointing return and the former Leeds man could be allowed to leave this summer - although it appears St James’ Park will not be his ultimate destination. The Magpies are in the market for a right-winger this summer and have also been linked with Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.
