Régis Le Bris in or out? Sunderland fans deliver job verdict as Echo polls attract over 2,700 votes

A majority of voters in an Echo poll supported Sunderland’s decision to back Régis Le Bris despite their poor Premier League form

Six in ten respondents to an Echo poll have backed Sunderland’s decision to stand behind Régis Le Bris.

The completed vote on X attracted 1,342 responses, with 60.1 per cent agreeing that the club were right to support their head coach despite disappointing league results. A further 21.1 per cent disagreed, while 18.9 per cent were undecided.

The result follows confirmation from Sunderland sources that Le Bris retains the confidence of the board and senior football leadership, who believe he can turn their Premier League fortunes around. The club recognise supporters’ frustrations but continue to regard stability and collective responsibility as essential to improving performances and results.

The X poll asked: “Do you agree with Sunderland’s decision to back Régis Le Bris despite their poor Premier League form?” Support for the club’s stance comfortably outweighed opposition, with almost three times as many respondents voting in favour as against.

Second poll shows closer split

A separate Echo poll on Instagram produced a tighter result when supporters were asked directly whether they were Le Bris “in or out”. With 1,424 responses recorded, 41 per cent had voted “In”, 33 per cent selected “Out” and 27 per cent were undecided.

Voting remained open at the time those figures were recorded, with 11 hours left. The percentages displayed by Instagram were rounded. Keeping Le Bris was the most popular option, although it fell short of an outright majority. More than a quarter of respondents remained on the fence.

The polls asked different questions and reached different audiences, so the results cannot be treated as evidence of a shift in opinion. Both were informal social media votes rather than representative surveys of the entire fanbase. Nevertheless, the completed X poll offers a clear endorsement of Sunderland’s decision among those who participated.

That backing does not necessarily signal satisfaction with performances. Supporters were asked whether Le Bris should retain the club’s confidence, rather than whether his team have been good enough. For now, Sunderland’s hierarchy remain committed to their head coach — and a majority of respondents to the completed poll agree with that approach.
