Ryan Fraser has reportedly agreed terms with Southampton over a permanent move to St Mary’s this summer. According to the Athletic, Fraser will move to the south coast when the two clubs iron out final details over the terms of a move.
Fraser hasn’t featured for Newcastle United since October 2022 and spent last season on-loan at Southampton as he helped Russell Martin’s side return to the top-flight at the first time of asking following their relegation from the Premier League a season previous. Martin, who played with Fraser at international level for Scotland, revealed in January that he wanted to sign the winger on a permanent basis: “Would I like to make it permanent? Yes. The chance of that happening I think, because of the finances involved, the timing and his situation, is low.” Martin said.
“I don’t know if it will be feasible right now but he just needs to keep doing what he is doing, he is in a really good place and enjoying it. We will see but I am pretty sure he would love to stay here beyond this season.”

With Fraser seemingly close to leaving St James’ Park, the Magpies are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Lloyd Kelly from Bournemoith. The 25-year-old will leave the Cherries as a free agent and is set to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed move to Tyneside.
HITC report that Newcastle have beaten off interest from AC Milan and Roma for Kelly’s signature - meaning those two clubs will turn their attentions elsewhere to bolster their defensive ranks. And one player they could turn to and sign is Everton’s Ben Godfrey.
Godfrey was linked with a move to Italy during the January transfer window, but remained at Goodison Park under Sean Dyche. However, the Toffees may need to sell players this summer in order to satisfy the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and Godfrey could be someone they let go.
