Tyne And Wear Housebuilder Donates £1,500 To Cancer Support Charity
Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to the Melanoma-Me Foundation, supporting anyone affected by Melanoma.

Founded in 2017 by Kerry Rafferty, the charity aims to support anyone affected by Melanoma and to raise awareness of the disease and its effects. Melanoma is the 5th most common cancer in the UK and through its campaigning, the charity has had a hand in catching over 75 cases of Melanoma.
After Kerry’s own Melanoma diagnosis in 2015, she found that there was no specific support for those affected by Melanoma. As a trained counsellor, Kerry decided that she would provide this support, and since then the charity has grown to include a team of 10 counsellors and five office staff.
Robbie Brannen, Operations Manager at the Melanoma-Me Foundation, said: “We were overjoyed when Barratt and David Wilson Homes donated. This money will go towards helping so many who feel alone on their journey, making a massive difference in their lives.
“The funds will go directly towards supporting those with Melanoma through one-to-one counselling, group support and holistic therapies. These services have been described as ‘a lifeline’ by our clients, proving how essential it is to be listened to and understood.
“Funding can be difficult to come by, and so donations like this allow us to continue to offer the services we are proud of. We thank everyone at Barratt and David Wilson Homes for supporting us as a charity and helping us change the lives of our clients.”
Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, it has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year.
Steven Ball, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North East, said: “We are delighted to support the vital work of the Melanoma-Me Foundation. We are dedicated to positively contributing to the communities where we build, and services like this play a crucial role within them. We are proud to support the Melanoma-Me Foundation and hope their work continues to provide much-needed support to those who need it most.”
