Eight changes: Sunderland team news explained as Régis Le Bris makes big calls for Chelsea
Sunderland are back in Premier League action when they face Chelsea at the Stadium of Light
Régis Le Bris has handed Chemsdine Talbi his first Premier League start of the season as Sunderland face Chelsea at the Stadium of Light.
Talbi will start on the left wing as the Black Cats look to turn around their poor form and climb off the foot of the table against Xabi Alonso's side. The Sunderland head coach has also been handed an injury boost with Nordi Mukiele passed fit to play after recovering from a concussion. With Omar Alderete suspended, Mukiele will play alongside Luke O'Nien in the heart of defence.
Le Bris’s other key call is to bring Thomas Meunier and Trai Hume back into the side together down the right flank. The bench is largely as expected given the club’s injury situation, but Timur Tutierov is preferred to Jocelin Ta Bi.
Sunderland XI: Roefs; Meunier, Mukiele, O'Nien, Reinildo; Xhaka, Sadiki, Le Fee; Hume, Talbi, Brobbey
Subs: Ellborg, Danso, Methalie, Tutierov, Fofana, Isidor, Rigg, Ahoka, Angulo
For Chelsea, there is a significant injury boost with Moises Caicedo passed fit to play despite missing some training this week. In goal, however, Emiliano Martinez is not yet fit to return from a jaw injury and so Mike Penders continues in goal.
