Coventry City fan’s unexpected gift leaves Bradley Lowery Foundation ‘speechless’ after Sunderland incident

An anonymous Coventry supporter has donated a treasured medal and handwritten letter to the Bradley Lowery Foundation

An anonymous Coventry City supporter has left the Bradley Lowery Foundation “truly speechless” after donating a commemorative FA Cup medal bought for them by their dad.

The supporter sent the medal, marking Coventry’s 1987 final against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, alongside a handwritten letter addressed to Bradley’s parents, Gemma and Carl.

The supporter offered the item to the foundation and suggested an online raffle could raise money, with fellow Coventry fans helping to publicise the fundraiser. The donation follows the arrest of a 14-year-old in connection with an alleged incident involving an image of Bradley Lowery during Coventry City’s match against Sunderland at the CBS Arena.

Sharing photographs of the gift on social media, the foundation praised the supporter’s generosity and appealed for them to come forward. The package had arrived without a contact address, leaving the charity unable to respond directly to the person who had sent the medal and accompanying letter.

“This unbelievable donation arrived in the post to us this week, and it has me truly speechless,” the foundation’s post read. “To donate something so special purchased by someone so important is so selfless and kind.” The photographs show the medal in a presentation box, with a sky-blue and white ribbon and a plaque commemorating the Wembley final.

In the accompanying letter, the donor explained the personal connection behind the gift and suggested it could become a Christmas present for another Coventry supporter. “I am a Coventry City fan. My dad bought me this 1987 medal,” they wrote, before outlining how it might help the foundation raise funds.

“Was thinking would it be possible for your foundation for Bradley to do an online raffle to raise funds,” the letter continued. The supporter also suggested approaching Coventry-focused YouTube channels and the local press to help publicise any fundraiser, pointing to the club’s supporter base as a potential source of support.

The letter ended with the message: “Hope this may help in some way,” and was signed simply: “Lots of Love, CCFC Fan xx.” Hoping to identify the supporter behind the gift, the foundation added: “This donation did not arrive with a contact address, so if this is from you, please let us know.”
