It’s been announced that WFL UK will take place on March 20, 2027, at RM Arena in Houghton.

North East kickboxer Jamie Bates (27-10-1, 3 KO) will meet Germany’s Brice Kombou (22-9, 11 KO) for the vacant WFL undisputed welterweight world title in the main event.

Hailing from nearby Durham, Jamie is a veteran of the global combat sports scene, having competed right across the world from GLORY to SuperKombat and has fought some of the best fighters in the world.

With five knockout victories in each of his past five victories, Kombou is known on the European circuit for his non-stop action-packed fights.

“It has been a long time since I had the opportunity to fight at home and I am really excited,” said Jamie Bates. “Kombou is a terrific opponent who always brings the action and it is the perfect fight for fans to come watch.

“However, I am getting my hand raised no matter what and will leave everything in the ring.”

WFL CEO & founder, Melvin Manhoef, shared his excitement ahead of WFL UK’s announcement.

“I am thrilled to bring WFL to the UK for the very first time,” said Manhoef. “UK fight fans are among the most passionate in the world and I cannot wait to feel their energy March 20 at the RM Arena.

“The event will showcase some of the best of British kickboxing and maybe a couple of surprises. Register for the presale today and don’t miss out on joining us in making history.”
