Eight of the top ten secured wins, with a number of dominant performances. The only two sides not to win, Doncaster and Coventry City, played out a predictably tight draw that underlined the poise with which both sides have started the campaign. At the top, there were some big results for Portsmouth and Accrington Stanley, who bounced back from some concerning results with key wins. Here, Phil Smith runs through the results as usual to try and identify some of the key trends in the division...
9. 15. Shrewsbury Town (-3)
Started brightly against Fleetwood Town but never recovered from conceding an early own goal, beaten 3-0 in a scoreline that didn't flatter Joey Barton's impressive side. They have ambitions for this seson and have recruited well, but one win in five shows they have much to do if they are to trouble the top six. Photo: Catherine Ivill
10. 15. MK Dons (-1)
Three defeats on the bounce is an obvious concern for a side struggling for consistency this season. Performances are decent, though, and they will be stronger when attacking threats return from injury. No need for panic yet. Photo: Pete Norton
11. 13. Lincoln City (+1)
Their form is woeful, now with just one win in eleven across all competitions. Michael Appleton's first game in charge offered some positives despite a 2-1 defeat to Blackpool, with Jack Payne lively and offering a platform for the new manager to build on. Sunderland are the next visitors to Sincil Bank on Saturday. Photo: Stu Forster
12. 12. Burton Albion (+1)
No game over the weekend weekend, allowing them to enjoy the Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth a little longer. The arrival of experienced winger Lloyd Dyer, who has shone for the club in the past, is also another boost as they look to finally turn good league performances into regular wins.
