A whole host of Northern League clubs are looking to progress in the FA Vase this weekend.

Olly Hotchkiss has warned Easington Colliery they ‘can’t take anything for granted’ as they prepare to host struggling Durham United on Saturday.

The Colliers have enjoyed a remarkable start to the new season after collecting 25 points from a possible 30 and they head into this weekend’s Vase clash sitting in second place in the Division One table. By contract, Saturday’s visitors have endured a difficult opening six weeks to their own campaign and have won just one of their first 11 games and have conceded 46 goals in the process to leave themselves second from bottom in the Division Two table.

Despite going into the tie as overwhelming favourites to progress into the first round proper for the first time in a decade, Hotchkiss has urged the Colliers to remain professional as they look to continue an impressive run of form.

He told The Echo: “We want to have a bit of a run in every cup competition we are in because we know that can help us build up a bit of momentum. It’s been a good start to the season but we can’t slow down now, we have to keep pushing forwards and keep learning from every single game we play. Just because Durham United have made a slow start to the season and are in Division Two doesn’t mean we can take anything for granted. We will ask the lads to be professional as we always do and I am absolutely sure we will get that response from them once again.”
