'I’m laughing' - David James makes Newcastle United bust-up claim after Steve Bruce and Matt Ritchie clash

Former England goalkeeper David James says he will be “very surprised” if Steve Bruce finds the ‘leak’ to his bust-up with Matt Ritchie.

The pair clashed at the club’s Benton training base after Bruce, in his post-match interview, blamed Ritchie for not passing on tactical instructions during the 1-1 draw against Wolves.

Bruce confirmed the story – first reported by the Daily Mail – was true and that an investigation had been launched to find the ‘mole’.

James, however, has explained why he believes the 60-year-old will struggle to find the culprit.

He told Sky Sports Football Show: “I’m laughing when I’m listening to Steve Bruce who says there is going to be an investigation into where the leak came from.

"There are multiple different sources – conversations between players from different sides.

"You’re not going to eradicate it. I’ll be very surprised if Steve Bruce and his investigative team find the actual lead to this story because people talk, unfortunately.”

Bruce insisted last week the matter had been resolved between him and Ritchie.
