Tyne and Wear Metro has posted a message to say the problems would impact passengers using their bank cards to pay on its ticket machines between South Hylton and East Boldon, advising people should use cash instead.

It said the problem is being caused by a technical issue in the Sunderland area, adding it was also having an impact on the station help points.
