Little hands make a big difference in Sunderland harvest appeal

Children and families at a Sunderland nursery school have come together to support their local community through a generous harvest collection.

Nurserytime, in Southwick, generously donated items to the Sunderland Foodbank to help support local people in need.

The donations were carefully packed by the children who helped to prepare the items for delivery.

Helen Coulson, nursery manager, said: “We are incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our families and the enthusiasm of our children.

"Harvest is a wonderful opportunity to help young children understand the importance of thinking about others, sharing what we have and making a positive difference in our communities.

“Experiential learning is such an important part of our ethos.

"We believe children learn best when they can actively participate in meaningful experiences rather than simply being told about the world around them.

"Our harvest collection has allowed the children to experience the true value of giving, kindness and community spirit first-hand.”
