A post on his Facebook page says: “Firstly we would like to thank yous all for your continued support during this hard time we are so overwhelmed with everyone’s generosity and finding lots of strength in how respected and well thought of our dad was to everyone.

"Due to very firm restrictions over the funeral arrangements, we felt we had to do something to give everyone a chance to be able to pay their respects to such an amazing man, he certainly deserves it.

“On Friday, November 27, at 10am Dean will be making his final journey around the Sunderland Stadium of Light.

"A place where he was loved and respected by many and also captured life long memories for a lot of people.

“We would love to see as many people as possible lining the walkways of the stadium to give dad the farewell he deserves.

“Please could I remind everyone to socially distance as per the Government guidelines and respect the family’s wishes regarding the restrictions, as it has been hard enough to organise with close family only.”
