Arrest made following alleged incident involving photograph of Bradley Lowery at Coventry City

An arrest has been made after a reported incident involving a photograph of Bradley Lowery at the match on Saturday between Sunderland AFC and Coventry City.

Following the game at the Coventry Building Society Arena on October 31, footage circulated on social media appearing to show an individual in the Coventry City end using a photograph of the late Sunderland supporter to taunt visiting fans.

Yesterday, West Midlands Police confirmed a 14-year-old boy had handed himself in in connection to the reported incident.

After being contacted by the Echo, a West Midland’s Police spokesperson today said: “A teenage boy arrested on suspicion of a public order offence in Coventry on Saturday has been bailed with conditions.”

Following the alleged incident, West Midlands Police said a thorough investigation was launched.

A spokesperson said: “We understand the upset and outrage this reported video has caused in the community and to the victim's family and our officers are keeping them up to date with the progress of our investigation and working closely alongside both football clubs."

Coventry City have said they are liaising with the relevant authorities.

Bradley, a lifelong Sunderland supporter from Blackhall Colliery, died in July 2017 at the age of six after battling neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. His story touched the hearts of football supporters across the country, and his legacy continues through the Bradley Lowery Foundation.
