Northern Spire, the Sunderland-based wealth management firm, is bringing together four of the region’s most respected under-40 business figures for a breakfast briefing exploring how entrepreneurs can maximise the value of their businesses.

The Under 40 Panel – Maximise Your Business Value event will take place at Ramside Hall Hotel on Wednesday, November 4, from 8.30am to 10.30am.

Open to business owners and professionals of all ages, but particularly for those under 40, the session will combine practical advice, shared experiences and networking opportunities.

The panel will examine the challenges and opportunities involved in building successful businesses, creating long-term value and planning for the future, drawing on the panellists’ own experiences of entrepreneurship and business leadership.

David Cook, managing partner at Northern Spire, said: “Building a successful business is about more than growth alone; it’s about creating sustainable value and making the right decisions for the future.

“By bringing together four of the region’s most successful young business leaders who have experienced these challenges first-hand, we hope to give attendees fresh perspectives, practical ideas and the confidence to think differently about the next stage of their business journey.”

The four distinguished panellists will each bring a different perspective on growth and value creation.

As managing director of Gardiner Richardson Jen Hallam heads up one of the region’s most respected strategic brand communications agency and will bring her leadership experience and insight into developing a successful business.

Sam Riches, founder of Utilink Consulting, will share his perspective on entrepreneurship and building a business from the ground up. Sam has grown his business energy brokers into a successful operation that now employs more than 50 people.

Adeel Bashir, a legal director at Middlesbrough-based Nouveau Legal, will talk about the challenges facing young entrepreneurs and what it takes to maximise business value.

Adeel, who is also a non-executive director and board member of several organisations is an EDI and ESG specialist.

Dan Foskett, founder of Flooring Superstore, will draw on his entrepreneurial experience of establishing and growing a local business into a national one. Dan began selling computer parts aged 15 before going on to establish Flooring Superstore and growing it into a national retail business with 50 stores around the UK.

The panel will be hosted by Simon Oxley, financial adviser at Northern Spire, who will guide the discussion and encourage an open exchange of ideas.

Simon, who has hosted previous Northern Spire briefings, said: “The experience and knowledge of our panel is breathtaking. Sam is a hugely-impressive Sunderland entrepreneur who’s spoken at a previous Under 40s panel.

“Jen is another excellent example of a successful young North East business leader, combining commercial leadership with a strong focus on brand development, social impact and business resilience.

“Dan’s remarkable journey from teenage entrepreneur to building a substantial national business, with a reported annual turnover of about £50m, is truly inspiring.

“Meanwhile Adeel will give our audience his own informed and unique perspective.”

The morning will begin with 30 minutes of networking, followed by a one-hour panel discussion and a further 30 minutes for attendees to connect with fellow business owners, directors and professionals.

Simon added: “The event aims to help entrepreneurs identify opportunities to strengthen their businesses, increase long-term value and make informed decisions about their future ambitions.”
