Sunderland man quits job to join the Mackems in Poland - saying 'no way was I going to miss this'
‘There is no place I would rather be than out here. It is unbelievable’
A Sunderland man quit his job to join the red and white army in Poland.
John Davison, 43, said: “As soon as the Europa League fixtures came out, I thought to myself ‘there is no way I am going to miss this.’

John was about to board the bus in Poznan for the trip to the stadium when he spoke to the Sunderland Echo and told us about his huge decision to put his love of the Black Cats ahead of work.
“I couldn’t have the same holidays as my gaffer and he had booked his. I was not going to miss two games so I put my notice in and said ‘right I’m off’.”
John watched Sunderland play in Portugal, now in Poland and is hopeful of being in the crowd at the San Siro stadium when SAFC travel to Italy to play AC Milan.
He said: “There is no place I would rather be than out here. It is unbelievable.

“I have followed Sunderland all my life home and away as much as I can and this has been by far the best experience I have seen. To have missed one game in Europe would have been bad enough but to miss two - it was just not going to happen.”
Happily, John does have a new job to go to when he gets back, in Newcastle.
Sunderland were taking on Lech Poznan in the Europa League and still have fixtures to come against GNK Dinamo at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, November 5; at home Jagiellonika on November 26; away at Milan on December 10 ; away to Anderlecht on January 21 and home to Levski Sofia on January 28.
