Northumbria Police are now appealing for information to help return the item to the school.

A spokesperson said: “Sometime between 9pm and 10pm on Monday, July 26, it was reported that a number of males had entered the grounds of Bexhill Academy in Town End Farm, Sunderland.

“After entering the school, the males stole a motorised wheelbarrow, estimated to be worth between £8,000 and £10,000, before leaving the scene.

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries into the report and are now appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which could assist enquiries.

“We are also asking members of the public to be mindful if they are offered a motorised wheelbarrow for sale in suspicious circumstances, either in person or online, as it could be linked to the investigation.”

Anyone with information is urged to send Northumbria Police a direct message on social media or via the report page on their website.
