We're celebrating Sunderland with the return of Unity in the Community
The joyous event celebrates community, culture and creativity.
"Unity in the Community is all about celebrating Sunderland and the people who make it such a fantastic place to live,” say organisers as the community event for all returns.

People are invited to come together for a day of sharing, celebration, creativity, and community as Unity in Sunderland returns to Sunderland Minster on Saturday, August 15.
Taking place from 11am to 2pm, the event is free to attend, open to everyone and celebrates the diverse cultures that make Sunderland so special.
Bringing together voluntary organisations, community groups, local artists and residents, the day promises a packed programme of live music and family-friendly activities.
During the event there is a chance to enjoy forum theatre, theatre games and spoken word performances as well as live music performances.
Hosted at Sunderland Minster, the event aims to strengthen community connections, celebrate local talent, and create opportunities for people from all backgrounds to come together in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Unfolding Theatre will be performing their piece ‘Dear Sunderland’ an uplifting performance combining spoken word and music, inspired by heartfelt letters written by people from across the city.
Meanwhile, A Band Like This will be performing a mix of covers and original songs.
They are a community company/band formed from the making of the award-winning Unfolding Theatre show ‘A Street Like This’.
Sacred Sounds CIC are back from their last uplifting performance at June’s Unity event, to bring more drum-fuelled joy to Sunderland Minster.
After Evensong, a gifted jazz and blues trio will be performing a selection of tunes. Based in Sunderland, After Evensong are Malcolm Railton (guitar), Clare MacLaren (vocals) and Alan Marshall (saxophone).
Longslip are a local three-piece acoustic group who will be playing a set of original songs.
Member of Unity in Sunderland Organising Committee and Canon Provost of Sunderland Minster, Revd Canon Clare MacLaren, said "Unity in Sunderland is all about celebrating Sunderland and the people who make it such a fantastic place to live.
“It's an opportunity to enjoy great entertainment, discover the amazing work of local organisations, and meet neighbours old and new in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere."
