Barton has been handed a one-game ban after being sent to the stands during his side’s 0-0 draw with Bristol Rovers on Monday.

The incident occurred after Fleetwood saw a goal disallowed in the second half.

An FA statement reads: “Joey Barton has been banned from the touchline for one match with immediate effect for a breach of FA Rule E3.

“The Fleetwood Town FC manager admitted that his language towards a match official in the 69th minute of an EFL League One game against Bristol Rovers FC on 29/12/19 was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or implied bias and he also accepted the standard penalty.”
