The Black Cats took an early lead courtesy of Dion Sanderson’s first ever senior goal, a thumping header at the back post.

Man of the moment Charlie Wyke then doubled the Wearsiders’ lead 10 minutes before the interval after connecting with a cross from Rangers loanee Jordan Jones.

Lee Johnson’s men rarely looked in danger from that point onwards, and made it four wins in five matches to remain fourth in the League One table.
