'Tweets being deleted' – Sunderland fans react to Chelsea win with strong Régis Le Bris message
Sunderland supporters have reacted to the Chelsea victory, with Régis Le Bris, Jules Ahoka and Brian Brobbey dominating the conversation
Sunderland supporters have delivered their verdict on Régis Le Bris following a much-needed victory over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light, with the result providing some welcome relief after a difficult start to the Premier League campaign.
The Black Cats entered Sunday's encounter under considerable pressure following a disappointing run of domestic results, with Le Bris facing growing scrutiny over his tactics, team selections and performances. The Frenchman had also faced criticism from sections of the fanbase following Thursday's Europa League clash with Dinamo Zagreb, when boos were heard at the Stadium of Light.
However, Sunderland produced a performance much more reminiscent of last season, showing the defensive organisation, intensity and togetherness that had been missing in recent weeks. Jules Ahoka, Brian Brobbey, Nordi Mukiele and Luke O'Nien were among those to impress, while supporters were particularly pleased to see the players respond positively to the pressure surrounding their head coach.
Here is how Sunderland supporters reacted to the victory, with Le Bris' future, Ahoka's emergence and the team's defensive improvements among the main talking points:
Jake (@Rusty12x): "I’d like to think a lot of the bedwetting will stop, and a few Le Bris out tweets being deleted. Back to that side we saw last season"
JHS (@Jhuntersmith): "Absolutely buzzing for Le Bris; players fought hard for him, and he managed to shut out Chelsea’s threat perfectly; can barely think of a Chelsea chance bar the one in the first half. That back 4 has to be the one going forward. Solid."
Cameron Phillips (@Camsafc93): "Frustrating that we are capable of that but haven’t done it recently, but I’ll take that. Hopefully the start of things turning round. International break has now come at the worst time."
Kyle L (@KyzenSAFC): "Exactly what was needed. I hope this gives Le Bris confidence to play Ahoka and really protect Xhaka’s legs, hopefully give him a boot up the arse after his poor start to the season. We have to build on this... happy for Talbi too, he worked incredibly hard."
Keith Stout (@KeithStoutsafc): "Jules Ahoka was brilliant for such a young player with so little senior experience you would not know it. He is a star in the making. Big shout-out for all of the other players as well, though. Everyone put in a shift in and we looked more like the team of last season."
Will (@hashtagwilbert): "Mukiele massive at the back. Him and O Nien at the back instead of Danso and an off-form Alderete key to that performance. That and Ahoka stepping up. Also, will we adapt to Hume being a right midfielder quicker than folk took to accept O’Nien is a CB, not a CM now?"
Ian Christon (@IanPeterC): "That was Sunderland. Ahoka, Brobbey, Mukiele, Sadiki, Talbi, Reinildo, O’Nien all excellent. But God, do we need to start taking our chances and get us an easy win for once!"

Markus Carlson (@persevere77): "This is how we know our team as of last season. Never giving up and fighting for each other. Brobbey working Chelsea’s defence brutally and Jules Ahoka from da Roka introducing himself on the big stage. Great to watch from beginning to end. Thank you, Lads!"
Ian Humble (@IanAitcher): "It’s a great win that was desperately needed & was reminiscent of last season. The team playing and fighting as a unit, a clean sheet and still a glaring lack of finishing. Brobbey was excellent, but he has to start putting chances away."
