Sunderland climbed off the foot of the Premier League table with a crucial win over Chelsea.
Enzo Le Fee’s first half penalty was the difference in a hard-fought game. Here’s how we rated all of the Black Cats involved on the day....
1. GK - Robin Roefs
Wasn’t really tested as Sunderland defended well and limited Chelsea to few clear chances. Distribution decent and got the job done from set plays. 6 | Getty Images
2. RB - Thomas Meunier
Brought some experience and intensity to the side. Tricky defensive task at times but stuck to it and had a good game. 7 | Sunderland Echo, Chris Fryatt
3. CB - Nordi Mukiele
The team is simply a different proposition when he is playing. Took risks early on rushing out but set the tone that his team would get in Chelsea’s faces. So much defensive quality throughout. 9 | Sunderland Echo, Chris Fryatt
4. CB - Luke O'Nien
Got away with one a bit in the first half when he challenged Palmer in the box, with a VAR check showing that the offence was outside the box. Got the job done in the second half - with Ballard out he is definitely in Sunderland’s best pairing with Mukiele. 6 | Chris Fryatt
