As with the 8-1 win over Aston Villa u21s in the opening fixture, Parkinson will blend that youthful core with a handful of experienced players in need of minutes to boost their match fitness.
We take you through the XI we expect to see feature as the Black Cats look to build on a strong start...
5. LCB - OLIVER YOUNGER
Younger was signed from Burnley in the summer and did not play as Sunderland ran out 4-0 winners against Newcastle United U23s yesterday.
He was also called into the senior group to train last week, which could help his cause here.
Ideally, this would have been a good chance to further integrate Arbenit Xhemajli, who will play against Swindon Town due to Tom Flanagan's suspension.

6. LWB - LYNDEN GOOCH
Parkinson opted to rest Denver Hume for the last EFL Trophy game, with the youngster having played every minute of league action. Gooch stepped in and did well, though after playing ninety minutes with a minor groin problem on Saturday, he may too be in line for a rest.
One potential option is Jake Hackett.
The youngster is a central midfielder by trade but has a tremendous left foot and could easily step in to this role.

7. CM - GEORGE DOBSON
Dobson played 90 minutes for the U23s last week and will get this game as a chance to keep his match fitness up.

8. RCM - DAN NEIL
Neil was almost included in the squad at Charlton and will make his first appearance since signing his first professional deal last week.
That was a massive boost for the club, with Neil one of the stars of pre-season.
The 18-year-old was good against Aston Villa, though Parkinson urged him afterwards to ensure he settles into games and doesn't try to force the issue too much.
