Sunderland ended their US tour on a high with a win over Wrexham in Philadelphia.
Nordi Mukiele’s goal was the difference between the two teams and though Wrexham improved in the latter stages as a younger Black Cats side took to the field, the result was a deserved one that will encourage Regis Le Bris.
Here’s how we rated all the Black Cats involved in Pennslyvania...

9. RW - Trai Hume
Involved in the opening goal and played some dangerous forward passes throughout. Missed a big chance to double Sunderland’s advantage shortly before coming off but might well argue he was fouled by Callum Doyle in the process. 7 | Chris Fryatt, Echo

10. LW - Romaine Mundle
Missed a big early chance when he turned Diarra’s pass wide, though in his defence he was stretching and on his weaker foot. Lively, worked hard and nearly assisted Sadiki for a good goal. Brought off alongside Ballard at the break as Sunderland carefully manage their injury returns. 6 | Chris Fryatt

11. ST - Brian Brobbey
Borderline unplayable. Assisted Mukiele’s goal and completely dominated his battle with the Wrexham defenders. Looks in such good shape ahead of the new campaign, just lacked a bit of sharpness in his decision making in the final third. 8 | Getty Images

12. Sub - Nilson Angulo
Missed one big chance to score shortly after the interval but carried the ball well throughout a promising second-half showing. 7 | Nilson Angulo of Sunderland against Port Vale. Photo by Chris Fryatt.
