Sunderland battled back with ten men to secure a valuable point against Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light.
The hosts had been left with a mountain to climb after Reinildo saw red for a kick in the first half, and especially after Matty Cash’s long-range strike put the visitors ahead in the second. Sunderland played well, however, and got a deserved equaliser through Wilson Isidor.
Here’s how we rated all 16 Black Cats who took part in the game.

5. LB - Reinildo
Sent off late in the first half for kicking out at Matty Cash after being fouled. Can’t have any complaints with the decision, a big error from a very experienced player. 4 | Getty Images

6. CM - Granit Xhaka
Composed before the red and superb after it. Such a clever header to assist Isidor, and got through so much good work either side of that equaliser. A little fortunate that one error saw Elliott then blaze wide, but it was a very rare blemish. 7 | Chris Fryatt

7. CM - Noah Sadiki
What a shift. Pressed relentlessly in the second half and made some strong attacking runs to maintain a threat and relieve pressure. Impressive. 8 | Sunderland's Noah Sadiki. Photo by Chris Fryatt.

8. CM - Chris Rigg
Looked very accomplished on his first Premier League start. Involved in some of Sunderland’s best play through the first half an hour, before being withdrawn after Reinildo’s red. Understandable to get Ballard on but very harsh on the youngster. 7 | Getty Images
