Sunderland climbed into the top half of the Premier League with a crucial and deserved win against Spurs.
Though Nordi Mukiele benefited from a huge deflection to put his side ahead in the second half, Regis Le Bris’s side were worthy of the three points on a day when they spurned some big chances and limited Spurs to little.
Here’s how we rated all 14 of the Black Cats involved on the day...
5. LB - Reinildo
A little sluggish defensively in the early stages and got away with a soft foul that led to the overturned penalty. Very, very good in the second half and made some exceptional late challenges. 7 | George Wood/Getty Images
6. CM - Granit Xhaka
Put in some really good deliveries and unlucky not to score a brilliant half volley on his weaker foot in the first half. A typically composed and strong display. 7 | Getty Images
7. CM - Noah Sadiki
A really top performance in midfield. Used the ball well, broke up the play and got into good areas. Unlucky that play didn’t lead to a second-half goal. 8 | Getty Images
8. CM - Habib Diarra
One of his best all-round performances in a Sunderland shirt yet. Constantly made good runs to stretch the Spurs defence, handled the ball well and tracked back diligently. Looked like a very good Premier League number eight. My man of the match. 8 | Frank Reid
