Régis Le Bris reacts to Timur Tutierov's big Sunderland moment in Lech Poznan draw
Timur Tutierov scored his first senior goal for Sunderland in Poland on Thursday evening
Régis Le Bris praised Timur Tutierov after the Sunderland youngster scored his first senior goal for the club in Poznan on Thursday evening.
The 21-year-old led the line for the third game in a row with Brian Brobbey and Wilson Isidor still absent, and opened his account two minutes into the 1-1 draw with Lech Poznan. It is the latest chapter in the Ukrainian forward's remarkable story on Wearside, having joined the academy in 2023 and having initially been expected to leave the club earlier this summer.
Le Bris said Tutierov had shown his qualities again and suggested fatigue was behind his decision to bring him off with around five minutes to play. With no other strikers on the bench, Malick Fofana went up front with Dayann Methalie pushing up to the left flank.

“He showed the qualities that he has again tonight," Le Bris said.
"He is a good striker and a really hard worker. He had a really good pre-season, and is a nice lad as well. He is really well-connected with the team and the squad now, and he is good in behind. He always presses really well, with good timing, and is a really hard worker. He was a bit tired by the end of the game, but got the opportunity at the start of the game and scored, and that is really important for a striker."
Brobbey is expected to be available for Sunderland's clash with Leeds United on Sunday afternoon, but Isidor remains a major doubt having not travelled to Poland with the side as he continues his recovery.
