Régis Le Bris explains Sunderland's Juan Riquelme Angulo plan and reveals first behind-scenes impressions

The Ecuador striker has begun training on Wearside this week

Juan Riquelme Angulo will make his first Sunderland appearance on Friday night as the club's U21 side face Norwich City at Eppleton.

The Ecuadorian youngster began training with his new team mates this week following his deadline-day move from Independiente Del Valle, but won't be in the matchday squad as the Black Cats face Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Régis Le Bris says the club will take a cautious approach with the striker as he settles into the club, but says the youngster has all the attributes required to be a success.

"Probably [will take a cautious approach] but we never know," Le Bris said.

"Organically you never know how the schedule will evolve. He's young, tall, still immature but he's quick and intense. We had for example a huge duel in small side games between Brian [Brobbey] and Juan - you don't want to be in the middle of that! He needs experiences, he needs time but I think he's already experienced for a young player so I'm looking forward to seeing him more of him."

Le Bris kept his cards close to his chest with regards to his big selection dilemma on Sunday afternoon, with Reinildo suspended after being sent off for two yellow cards against Arsenal last week. Dayann Methalie could be line for his first Premier League minutes, but Trai Hume is another option. Romaine Mundle and Habib Diarra remained sidelined with knee and hamstring injuries respectively.
