Sunderland AFC transfer rumours: Will Grigg latest as Celtic told to sign Wearside star as Cats linked with ex-England youth international

Lee Johnson’s men failed to overcome Lincoln City over two legs in the League One play-off semi-final and now face a fourth straight season in the third tier of English football.

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, though, has confirmed that Johnson will remain on as head coach next campaign during a recent interview.

The Black Cats have also produced their retained list with Grant Leadbitter, Josh Scowen, Max Power and Callum McFadzean amongst others departing the club.

He said: “It’s felt like home and that’s partly down to the fans – even though they haven’t been here, you see the messages they send in. Wigan Athletic have offered a new contract to the in-demand Kyle Joseph. However, the starlet is wanted by Sheffield United, Newcastle United and Barnsley. Joseph burst into Wigan’s first-team last term and scored five goals in 16 games. (Various)
