Connelly, who spent time on loan at South Shields during the early months of last season, signed for Alloa in January but made just one start before the 2019/20 campaign was curtailed.

The young forward did net at the Indodrill though and he made a quick impression, prompting Alloa to swoop for his signature once more.

Connelly remains under contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2021 and was impressive in his Premier League 2 outings last term.

He scored four times in ten appearances, while also earning a call-up to the first-team squad for an FA Cup tie with Gillingham.
