Hebburn Town 'exploring' loan deal for Sunderland prospect ahead of historic season

Hebburn Town are keen on a loan deal for a Sunderland goalkeeper ahead of the new National League North season.

Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore has admitted the National League North newcomers are ‘exploring the possibility’ of taking Sunderland academy goalkeeper Isaac Allan on loan for a second time.

The 20-year-old stopper spent time with the Hornets last season after fellow Black Cats youngster Dan Cameron was recalled from a similar spell at the Trustmark Group Stadium and helped Moore’s men move a step closer to a shock Northern Premier League title win with a number of eye-catching performances between the sticks. However, Allan was recalled by Sunderland just days before Hebburn were officially crowned as champions with a 2-0 home win against Rushall Olympic on the final day of the season.

Moore is currently working hard to strengthen his squad as they prepare to take on the likes of South Shields, Darlington and Morecambe in non-league football’s second tier next season and he made his first new addition when he landed Whitby Town striker Jake Charles on Wednesday. However, the Hornets boss has also admitted he is keen to work with Allan once again next season and insisted the Academy of Light prospect can impress at a higher level over the coming years.

He said: “We are exploring the possibility of getting Isaac Allan back on loan for the new season. I think Isaac has every chance of having a really strong career in the game because he showed so much during his time with us last season. His attitude, his calmness in and out of possession, his ability as a goalkeeper, his mentality, they all say to me he can progress and play at a very, very high level. To have someone with that high level of confidence at such a young age really made a difference to us.

“If we can’t get him in, I hope he goes to a National League club or a club in the EFL because he deserves a chance at that level and I honestly believe he has a chance of progressing to a higher level on a regular basis in the future and enjoying a successful career as a professional in the EFL.”
