Ex-Sunderland managers 'linked' with Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Wolves hot-seats as Portsmouth to rival Cats over transfer
Sunderland are set for the second leg of the play-off semi-final today – but what gossip is there from around the internet?
Lee Johnson’s men have it all to do after suffering a hugely disappointing 2-0 defeat against Lincoln City in the first-leg at Sincil Bank on Wednesday night.
The return fixture will take at the Stadium of Light in front of 10,000 fans this afternoon with Sunderland needing a flawless performance to stand a chance of reaching the play-off final at Wembley.
Here, though, we take you through all of the latest talk that you may have missed today:
Former Sunderland managers ‘linked’ with Premier League jobs
Former Black Cats bosses Chis Coleman and Sam Allardyce have been linked with the vacant Crystal Palace job.
That follows the announcement that ex-England boss Roy Hodgson will leave the post when the season is concluded.
Allardyce, who recently announced that he will depart already relegated West Brom, is priced at 25/1 to take over at Selhurst Park.
SkyBet also has Coleman priced as a 33/1 outsider with former Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard a firm favourite at 11/8.
Interestingly, Allardyce is also an outside shot to take over at Wolves following the news that Nuno Espirito Santo is set to leave Molineux.
The bookies have the former Newcastle United man priced at 40/1 to replace the Portuguese manager.
And the speculation doesn’t end there with Allardyce also featuring in the betting to become Tottenham’s next permanent manager at 80/1.
Another former Sunderland boss, David Moyes, also features in the market at 50/1.
Portsmouth enter race for Sunderland ‘target’
Portsmouth have joined the race to sign Rotherham United’s Clark Robertson.
That’s according to the Daily Record who state that Pompey could rival Sunderland.
Danny Cowley is said to be keen to boost his defensive options by landing the in-demand centre-back this summer as the manager prepares for his first full season in charge at Fratton Park.
Robertson, 27, is leaving Rotherham at the expiration of his contract next month and is not short of potential suitors.
