9. Fleetwood Town

10. Gillingham
A thumping win over Bolton’s youngsters gave the table and their start to the season a more positive look. Steve Evans has been typically active in overhauling his squad and Alex Jakubiak has started well on loan from Watford in replacing Tom Eaves. Still looks like it will be a long campaign. Paul Lambert has done a good job getting his side ready for League One. Has prioritised physicality to balance with his young talent and the early signs are good. Tenacious, powerful and robust. James Norwood is a fine addition. A Photo: Stephen Pond

The club faces a nervous wait to see whether Danny Cowley links to Sheffield Wednesday are genuine. He has been inspirational as manager but the truth is, such is the quality of player recruited, they should compete under any manager.
