A number of eye-catching deals were sealed as Premier League and Championship clubs looked to offload the fringe players who didn’t move when the window for the top tiers shut earlier in August.
So who have underlined their promotion credentials and who looks set for a tough few months before the January window opens? Phil Smith gives his verdict on every club's work over the summer months and where they now stand….
21. Tranmere Rovers
Battling hard in the early stages of the season, with the obvious issue being a lack of goals after losing James Norwood. Could be a tough season. C- Photo: Charlie Crowhurst
22. Wycombe Wanderers
Have had a quite remarkable window. Will always be resolute at the back under Gareth Ainsworth, and have added flair and quality at the other end in Paul Smyth, David Wheeler, Fred Onyedinma and remarkably, Rolando Aarons. Hard to think of a side who have so improved in one window. A* Photo: Pete Norton
