'Brilliant stuff', 'Johnson > Guardiola' - Sunderland fans delighted after comfortable cup win vs MK Dons
Sunderland safely made it through to the semi-finals of the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday evening with a comfortable win over MK Dons – and fans have been quick to react on social media.
The Black Cats took an early lead, courtesy of an own goal from Dean Lewington.
Aiden McGeady then doubled his side’s lead deep into the second half with a low effort, before fellow substitute Charlie Wyke chipped in with his 16th goal of the campaign to book the Wearsiders' place in the final four of the competition.
McGeady had a fourth ruled out for offside in the latter stages of the match.
Lee Johnson's men will make their bid for a spot in the final on either February 16th or 17th.
