Brentford boss Keith Andrews delivers team news update and answers Igor Thiago question ahead of Sunderland
Brentford host Sunderland in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
Brentford boss Keith Andrews has revealed that he has no new injury concerns ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Sunderland in midweek.
The Black Cats make their first ever trip to the GTech Community Stadium on Wednesday, and will be looking to leapfrog their hosts with a positive result. Heading into the meeting in West London, Brentford and Sunderland sit seventh and eighth respectively, with just goal difference separating them.
Earlier in the season, Regis Le Bris’ men came from behind to win a dramatic encounter against the Bees at the Stadium of Light, with Wilson Isidor netting a stoppage time winner to secure a 2-1 victory.
And Andrews’ efforts to exact revenge for that late sucker punch will be aided somewhat by the fact that he has no new injury issues to contend with in the aftermath of Sunday’s 4-2 win over Everton.
Speaking in a pre-match press conference on Tuesday morning, the Irishman said: “We're obviously in a busy period of fixtures with the nature of the Christmas, New Year's games, but no, we're probably as we were really over the last week or two. We're pretty similar in terms of bodies and people available. Nothing really new to report, I don't think.”

What did Brentford boss Keith Andrews say about striker Igor Thiago?
Andrews was also asked about star striker Igor Thiago, and the impact that he has made so far this season. The Brazilian currently has 14 goals in 20 Premier League outings to his name this term, including a strike against Sunderland in August, and scored a hat-trick last time out against Everton.
Addressing the 24-year-old’s ongoing purple patch, Andrews said: “It's just been the constant evolution of his game. I spoke about it here only a few days ago, pre-Everton, about his performance levels, even though he hadn't scored in a few games. I wasn't particularly concerned because I felt his performances were really good.
“But he sacrificed himself a little bit in terms of one of the games in particular, where we wanted him to be a base and drop deep. I think, again, he's constantly evolving the way he is playing the game and within that, the way we can then play off the back of that. He's so pivotal to the way we play. But his goals the other day were of a very, very high level of competency and class and composure. He was a joy to watch the other day again.”
