'Newcastle are gone' - TalkSPORT pundit delivers crushing verdict on relegation battle

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has predicted that Fulham will retain their spot in the Premier League this season at Newcastle United’s expense.

Scott Parker’s men cut the gap between themselves and the Magpies to just three points on Saturday evening with a win over bottom club Sheffield United.

The Toon Army had an opportunity to respond when they played Manchester United on Sunday, but ultimately slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

Following their win over the Blades, the Cottagers have now lost just three of their last 14 top flight matches, while Bruce’s men have lost nine times over their equivalent run of matches.

And O’Hara believes that the recent swing in momentum hands the advantage in the battle for survival to the London club.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder said: “I personally think they [Fulham] are going to stay up. I think they’re in decent form.

"I think they’ve got the bit between their teeth in terms of the energy in their performances.

"They’ve got the belief that they can win games now, and I think that they are chasing Newcastle and Newcastle are gone.

"I think they are completely dead on their feet. Callum Wilson being injured is a massive blow.

"They’ve got no confidence, they don't seem like they can get a result. They look lacklustre in terms of their performances.

"I think Fulham have got something about them, the way they play. They’re in every game, and I think they’re going to pull off a great comeback.”
