Car fire put out by crews of firefighters at Testo's Roundabout

Drivers were warned of delays after fire crews were called to put out a car blaze at a busy interchange.

Firefighters were called to Testo's Roundabout, where roadworks will be carried out for the next two years, following a car fire.

Teams from South Shields and Washington Fire Stations were sent to Testo’s Roundabout at Boldon at 2pm on Saturday, after the vehicle caught light.

Motorists were urged to take care if they were in the area and warned of significant delays.

There are restrictions on A184 Newcastle Road, heading towards Boldon from Whitemare Pool, due to ongoing roadworks.

During last week, d rivers were warned to prepare for a series of planned roadworks on the A19 as work began to create an additional lane on the major road.

Overnight closures were in force from Tuesday to Friday . The additional lane should help reduce journey times in the area.
