Work under way on mural tribute to Sir Captain Tom Moore on the side of a Sunderland house
A mural paying tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore has been spotted on the side of a property in Pallion.
The artwork, which is not yet finished, has been created on the side of a house on Pallion Road, in Sunderland.
In the mural, Sir Tom can be seen draped in a Union Jack flag with a rainbow behind him – a symbol which was used to show support for NHS workers during the height on the pandemic.
Despite the piece bordering the land to Gospel Hall, the artwork was not commissioned by the church and the building it is on appears to be empty.
Captain Tom touched the hearts of the nation when he raised over £30million for the NHS, which prompted the Queen to give him a knighthood in her first official engagement following the first Covid-19 lockdown.
He sadly died at the beginning of February and was given a private send off during a small service on Saturday, February 27.
