Sunderland community centre at heart of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream launch
A Sunderland community centre has been at the heart of Ben & Jerry’s brand new ice cream launch.
A special community event took place on Monday, October 26 at Lambton Street Youth and Community Hub to celebrate the launch of Ben & Jerry's brand new ice cream flavour Love Nut Hate.
Created in partnership with six refugee entrepreneurs through Ben & Jerry's ice cream design challenge, Love Nut Hate combines sweet cream ice cream, pistachio swirls and crunchy pastry pieces.
This is the third ice cream flavour to be created through the challenge, following on from Sunny Honey Home and Sweet Mango Memories.

Mathilda Della Torre, UK activism manager at Ben & Jerry's, said : "Love Nut Hate is a way into a bigger conversation about how we resist fear and division by building strong, connected communities where everyone can belong, participate and thrive.
“We want this flavour to invite all of us to support the people and organisations like voluntary and community action Sunderland, already strengthening their communities."
The family-friendly event brought together local residents, community groups and organisations to celebrate the values that unite Sunderland's communities.
Visitors enjoyed complimentary ice cream and creative arts sessions, and had the opportunity to connect with organisations working to make Sunderland a welcoming and supportive place for all.
Janette Hilton, chief executive of VCAS, said: "Sunderland is full of people who show kindness, compassion and support for their neighbours every day.
“The message behind Love Nut Hate is a simple but powerful one, and we're delighted to celebrate it with local families, community groups and partners.”
Love Nut Hate is available to buy in shops now.
