The residents of St Michael’s, Fence Houses, near Houghton, are the latest in a series of people from the Sunderland area to enjoy payouts from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

They have each received £1,000 after their DH4 5NS postcode was selected as part of the latest People’s Postcode Lottery draw on November 7.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said: “A huge congratulations to our winners in Houghton-le-Spring.

Among recent local winners of the lottery are neighbours in Washington and the Fulwell and the Dame Dorothy Street areas of Sunderland.

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and the lotteries players have raised over £600 million to date for thousands of good causes.

This draw was made on behalf of Postcode Local Trust, a charity funded entirely by players to provide grants for grassroots projects with an environmental focus.
