They are all £1,000 richer after The General’s Wood, in Harraton, Washington, was selected as one of the daily winners in the latest People’s Postcode Lottery draw on Monday, October 19.

Speaking after the NE38 9BL postcode was chosen, lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said: ““What a fabulous start to the week. Congratulations to our winners, I hope they have fun spending their winnings.”

The residents’ success follows just days after seven neighbours in Howick Park, off Dame Dorothy Street, Sunderland, each banked an identical sum in a previous daily draw.

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players have raised more than £600 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

Monday’s draw was promoted on behalf of children’s charity Barnardo’s, which has received more than £5.2 million in funding from the lottery to transform the lives of the UK's most vulnerable children.
