Seaham Town councillors donate £2,000 to local organisations

Seaham Town Council have announced the three charities they are supporting this month as part of the Councillor’s Community Support Fund.

Every month, Seaham Town councillors decide which charities they want to donate their monthly allowances to.

This month, Councillor Bruce McCall has selected Seaham Boxing Club, Greenscape and Brendan Atkins.

One thousand pounds will be given to Seaham Boxing Club to help provide subsidised sessions for under-privileged children.

A donation of £655 will be given to Greenscape, which is a community project that engages with young people through gardening and the great outdoors.

This will help them buy a container to house outdoor play equipment when not in use at Dawdon Park.

Five hundred pounds will then be given to Brendan Atkins to allow him to provide free entertainment for the young people who attend the Leanne Kennedy Centre.

In total, £2,155 from the Councillor’s Community Support Fund has been donated this month.
