Person taken to hospital following road traffic incident

A person has been taken to hospital following a collision.

The collision is reported to have taken place on Waldridge Road near Chester-Le-Street, with the AA reporting the road was closed in both directions.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic incident in Waldridge near Chester-Le-Street at 8.54am on Wednesday 21st October 2026.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew who took one patient to University Hospital of North Durham (UHND)."

A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a one car collision on Waldridge Road, in Chester-Le-Street, shortly before 9am today.

“One woman was taken to hospital for treatment.”
