Greg James heading back to Sunderland on Longest Ride challenge - here's how to show your support
Last time he was in the city, he was impressed with our pink slices and £2 Greens Tavern pints - and Greg James will certainly be in need of a refuel as he makes a pit stop in Sunderland as part of a mammoth challenge.
The Radio 1 presenter is in the midst of his Longest Ride feat for Comic Relief, which is seeing him cycle from Weymouth to Edinburgh.

With the help of his trusty tandem bike “Tando Norris”, named after F1 star Lando Norris, Greg is covering 1000km in aid of the lifeline charity.
Greg set off on March 13 in Dorset before taking in parts of Wales, the midlands and Yorkshire, before he reaches the North East as the star works his way north of the border.
The route, which is expected to take around 8 days, will see him arrive in Sunderland’s Keel Square from 5pm tomorrow, Wednesday March 18.

He’s been joined by friends and supporters along the way and Mackems are being asked to show their support for the presenter when he arrives back in Sunderland on day 6 of his challenge.
After staying overnight in the city, the DJ will then be setting off from Keel Square at 9am on Thursday, May 19 for day seven.
Greg was last in the city in January to promote Radio 1’s Big Weekend, which takes place in Herrington Country Park from May 22-24, with headliners Fatboy Slim, Zara Larsson and Olivia Dean.
The presenter has previously done a similarly tough challenge for Sport Relief. In 2016 he completed five triathlons in five days across five different UK cities and in 2018 he cycled between - and climbed- Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis.
