Childline: Join the Summer of Fun and fundraise to support the NSPCC's work

Childline, the NSPCC-run service, relies on public donations for the majority of its funding. The support of people across the UK helps ensure we can share vital safeguarding messages children and young people and support families everywhere.

This summer, the NSPCC has launched the Summer of Fun – a new fundraising event which we’re encouraging nurseries and primary schools across the region to find out more about.

Summer of Fun includes free inspirational resources to suit different age groups, including ‘Going On a Bear Hunt’, ‘measuring a mile’ with Johnny Ball’s Roman inspired activity, guided walks around school grounds, playing traditional games or rainy day activities with an hour or two of pen and paper games.

TV presenters Ant and Dec have also provided a Propa Happy Playtime Power activity sheet, which encourages children to embrace silliness and has game ideas that can be enjoyed in years to come.

All funds raised will go towards supporting the NSPCC’s work. Whether you’re hosting a bake sale bonanza, a dancing competition, a fun tea party or a sponsored silence – sure to be a hit with teachers! – every pound raised will make a difference.

It’s always free for children to contact Childline, but every £4 raised could pay for a counsellor answer a call from a young person who needs support.

The Summer of Fun is a great way for children to enjoy entertaining activities whilst raising money to help the NSPCC and Childline. In the summer term, teachers are often looking to do something different and enjoyable and we think this is a perfect fit for pupils.

If you work at a school or have any links with schools and nurseries in your area, Summer of Fun can also work in the Personal Social Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum, as it focusses on improved physical and emotional wellbeing.

Please tell everyone you know about this and encourage schools and nurseries to sign up as we know that taking part in the NSPCC Summer of Fun will help to change children’s lives.

Whether your children attend or you have friends who are teachers, can find out more about Summer of Fun or sign up via the NSPCC website.
