On 4 July, the Labour Party made a pact with working people.

We offered economic stability, national security, protected borders, and strong alliances with NATO and Ukraine. In return, you delivered the first Labour Government in 14 years.

We promised to show working people that politics in this country can be a force for good. And now, just over 100 days since we were given the privilege of power, change has begun.

Already this Labour government has lifted the ban on onshore wind, launched Great British energy, ended single word Ofsted judgements in our schools, founded a new Border Security Command and a National Wealth Fund, and begun the process of bringing our railways back into public ownership.

Our mission-driven government will deliver higher growth, safer streets, cleaner and cheaper energy, greater opportunities, and the healthier society that the British people deserve.

But this is just the beginning. The progress we have already made is laying the foundation for what we promised: a decade of national renewal, and an end to 14 years of Conservative chaos.

We have a 10-year plan for our NHS so you, and your loved ones, can get the appointments and the care that you need.

We are delivering the biggest levelling-up of workers’ rights in a generation, and a real living wage so you can have the security and dignity you need to get on in life.

More neighbourhood police and increased police powers to tackle anti-social behaviour so you can feel safe in our great city.

And we’re making changes so your children can have the best start in life, with new nurseries, more teachers and breakfast clubs in every primary school.

My party and I have always had this ambition – but only now do we have the power to make it a reality.

We are building a Britain that, once again, works for working people. A Britain you can be proud of. A Britain that belongs to you.

The legacy that we have inherited is bleak, the challenges are vast and the path of change will be paved with tough decisions.

But my belief is simple: our best days lie ahead of us, and the work of this Labour government is to deliver them.

The first 100 days of this government marks the first steps of our chance to build on our proud history, and deliver the brighter future our children, our country, and our city deserve.
