Flexibility on parking is needed in Sunderland

I am writing in support of Father Mark, who complained about parking recently.

The area outside St Mary’s Church has a loading bay which is subject to parking restrictions 24 hours, seven days a week.

The parking wardens are carrying out their jobs, but is this blanket restriction necessary? Definitely not.

When there are no traders in the area requiring deliveries the parking restrictions should not apply.

Unfortunately, the powers that be do not consider these circumstances when they make their edicts, which shows a certain laziness on their part and they should rectify this forthwith and not only in Bridge Street but throughout the city.
