Road closed after flytippers block road with huge piles of rubbish

Sunderland City Council had to shut down Foxcover Lane after the waste was discovered at around 1am in the morning, with the clear up effort taking its team until 3pm to complete, with containers, roofing felt and chunks of foam amongst the debris.
The incident happened yesterday, Wednesday, June 9.
Now council chiefs are searching through its CCTV systems and has appealed for help as it searches for the vandal responsible, which risked damage to vehicles by leaving the rubbish on the road.

Hide AdIt has also shared the photos via its social media in the hope someone with information can help with the investigation into the incident.
The Echo runs the Clean Streets campaign in a bid to encourage people to help the city be a greener and cleaner place.
A spokesperson for the authority said: “Following reports of a significant flytipping incident at Foxcover Lane, the road was closed to allow the council’s Environmental Enforcement and Environmental Services Team to remove the rubbish.
"We are currently checking local CCTV and appealing to residents for information to catch those responsible.

"Fly tipping is not only a criminal offence, but can also cause damage to the environment, wildlife and in this instance, pose a risk to life.”
