Northumbria Police have launched an arson investigation after a car was set on fire in a Silksworth street.

Officers say that they received a report of a car fire on Warwick Terrace, in the Silksworth area of Sunderland, shortly after 11pm on Monday, September 28.

Police confirmed that emergency services had attended the scene and dealt with the blaze.

It is understood that no one was injured during the incident.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 11pm yesterday (Monday) we received a report of a car fire on Warwick Terrace, Sunderland.

"Emergency services attended and dealt with the blaze.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1243 280920 or make contact via Northumbria Police's website."
